Rapid Curing

Cutback bitumen is a liquid bitumen obtained by dissolving penetration bitumen in a solvent. Solvents are obtained from the distillation of oil in refineries. Solvents that evaporate rapidly at ambient temperature are used to make fast-hardening bitumen. This bitumen is called RC (Rapid Curing) in short. The evaporation rate of the solvents used in this type of bitumen is 0.3 times higher than the evaporation rate of acetone. RC bitumen is used in adhesive coatings, chip seals and sand seals.
